Our CEOs are the leaders in the front. They see the action in our business on a day-to-day basis. They know who in their team can execute and who is not up to the task.
Can I give an overarching vision of where our businesses are headed? Yes.
Can I determine how many resources get reinvested in each business? Yes.
Can I achieve the best result by telling my CEOs how to do their jobs, getting into the details of every decision, and questioning their leadership? No.
Will they do things exactly how I would have? Of course not. But that is why I hired them so that I do not have to do it. So that I can focus on my area of expertise. That is the definition of delegation.
This all comes down to trust. To implement an effective delegated management system, you must trust your people. You must empower them to make their own decisions and they should trust you have their back
