Everyone wants it all, now. Faster is better. Bigger is better. But is it?
Building something big and fast almost always requires introducing fragility. Whether that be debt or a lack of processes, there are tons of cautionary tales of companies and people trying to get too big too fast and losing everything.
Another reason for not wanting to get it all now is, it is actually less rewarding.
Imagine you won the lottery tomorrow. You collected $1 billion. There, you did it. You made it. Everything you could want is yours. Where do you go from there?
How does it feel knowing your greatest day already happened? How does anything else compare to that?
If instead you could receive a little bit more each day, always surprised and happy with this incremental improvement, wouldn’t that lead to more happiness?
Wouldn’t the wait actually bring you more joy in the long run?
