I have made multiple multi-thousand-dollar mistakes. I have had deals die after investing $50,000+ in due diligence. I have had owners ghost me as we negotiate a purchase agreement. I have had businesses robbed at gunpoint. I have had employees unionize. Immediately after buying a company, I had the DA and Microsoft attorneys in my office reviewing pirated software. I have been sold hundreds of thousands in defective inventory.
I have sat down at night and wondered if we were going to make it. If we had wasted our time building this. If it was all going to be lost.
I have learned from every one of these events. I have persisted. I have believed in our long-term vision. I have always gone back to our thesis:
1. Buy companies we understand.
2. Run by people we want to work with.
3. Pay a fair price.
Do not for a second believe this is easy. It is simple, but it is not easy.
